With those icy winter months setting in, it's time to start sipping your bourbon warm. Spike your classic eggnog, hot chocolate, and even lattes with a splash of Wild Turkey bourbon. Below, five recipes to add a little fire to your typical cold weather beverages. Adjust the recipes to get more servings, and you've got some great ideas for Christmas party favors.
1. Bourbon Butterscotch Latte
What's better than a warm latte on a cold day? A warm latte with a kick of bourbon and butterscotch. Endless Simmer has perfected the recipe for you, inspired by the Bourbon Butterscotch Latte over at Jose Garces' restaurant in Philly, J.G. Domestic.
2. Classic Homemade Eggnog with Bourbon
As you're gearing up for the annual Christmas parties, now's the time to find the perfect eggnog recipe. Try out Alton Brown's classic eggnog, and if you feel like dressing it up, consider substituting almond milk, or tossing in some grated ginger.
3. Honey-Bourbon Toddy
If you didn't catch the previous post on the soothing hot toddy, here's another quick and easy recipe from the folks over at Bon Appétit. This recipe dresses up the standard classic by introducing the flavor of apples into the mix. To infuse your Wild Turkey with a hint of apple, combine 750 milliliters with 4 cored, sliced Fuji apples, and 4 cinnamon sticks in a pitcher. Cover and chill for 3 days.
4. Spiced and Spiked Hot Cocoa
If you think hot chocolate is quick, then you better stick to those instant cocoa packets. But if you want a real hot cocoa drink, you've got to put some effort into it—40 minutes, at least. After trying out Emeril Lagasse's recipe over at Food Network, you won't ever go back to instant cocoa again. The semisweet chocolate is perfectly balanced with milk, cinnamon, anise, lime, vanilla, nutmeg, and bourbon.
5. Hot Buttered Bourbon and Cider
Butter doesn't really sound like a winner in a drink recipe, but sometimes you have to be daring to fall in love. And after you try this buttered bourbon and cider, you'll never want plain old mulled cider ever again. It may not be the healthiest drink, but this holiday season is the perfect time to indulge.
